Maren, wife Mande, and children Madelaine, Regan, and Lachlan reside on their ranch near Hay Lakes since 2003.
A graduate of Wetaskiwin Composite High School in 1992, Maren experienced football success playing on a league championship team that advanced to provincial finals. After high school, he played the 1993 season with the U of C Dinos and 1994,95,96 seasons with the Edmonton Huskies of the PJFL.
Through the 1997-2002 seasons, Maren served as Offensive Coordinator for Wetaskiwin Sabres High School Team, and served as Defensive Coordinator for the Wetaskiwin Warriors Bantam club in 2003. From 2004 to 2007 Maren was the Head Coach of the Camrose Coyotes Bantam Football team. He served as the Offensive Coordinator for the Leduc Stray Cats Midget team in the 2008 spring season. Spring of 2009, Maren was Co-Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Battle River Shock and in Fall of 2009, he was Head Coach for the Wetaskiwin Atoms.
The 2010 season will be Maren's 14th season coaching minor football. His focus remains on the growth of the sport of football in central Alberta.
